Environmental statement Hakatai is committed to environmental conservation and sustainability. We are green-conscious regarding all aspects of our organization, continually striving to make both our products and operations more environmentally sound.
Hakatai is proud to offer the Ashland-e, Calliope, Cobblestone and Tivoli series containing recycled glass. All tile in these series is comprised of between 30 and 70 percent glass from bottles and/or other waste glass that would otherwise have entered the solid waste stream. This waste glass is a mix of approximately 90 percent post-consumer and approximately 10 percent pre-consumer material.
Hakatai actively supports groups outside of our organization that foster sustainability and encourage environmental awareness. Among these are the following:
 | U.S. Green Building Council: A non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices, USGBC is composed of more than 15,000 organizations from across the building industry that are working to advance structures that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. |
 | Bonneville Environmental Foundation Green Tag Program: Supports the use of clean, renewable energy that is friendly to the environment and reduces emissions of greenhouse gases. Hakatai is proud to offset the environmental impacts of our energy use by adding 35,000 kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable electricity to the Northwest energy system each year. This amount is Hakatai’s maximum offset level and is derived from our average energy use per year. |
Siskiyou Sustainable Cooperative Program: A supplier of sustainably produced, organically grown farm products and advocate of sustainable agricultural production in southern Oregon. Hakatai’s membership in the Program provides organically grown fruits, vegetables, herbs and other produce from local farmers to Hakatai employees throughout the growing season. |
